Video: Dodge Challenger slowly transforms into a Mad Max ride

Robert Selby dreamed about building a replica of the Ford Falcon from the Mad Max movies, so he took a 2020 Dodge Challenger Hellcat and got to work. Wait, what!?

That’s right. Rather than sourcing a genuine Ford Falcon hailing back to the distant 1970s, the tuner decided to work with a modern Challenger instead. As odd as the decision may seem at a glance, it makes perfect sense if you look at the project as a whole. There is much in common between the two cars, including their dimensions and layouts.

To further the similarities, Selby outfitted the Challenger with a 1980MY Chery Camaro rear wing and glued on gill-like ‘air intakes’ just behind the doors. He then proceeded to swap the bumper for the so-called Arcadiapane model popular among Falcon owners Down Under.

The tuner’s plans for the nearest future include rebuilding the rear end using 1970MY Torino parts and making sure the chassis works as intended. To that end, he has already replaced the wheels with larger custom-made rims to be able to install modern brake calipers behind the spokes.

In all earnestness, when you consider what car parts and brands found use in this project the obvious question is: how is it possible to build a Ford Falcon replica out of them!? And yet, Selby obviously has great intuitive understanding of his needs, and has really nailed the look so far. We are excited to see what the Mad Max ride will look like when finished!
