Geely has expanded its Preface sedan lineup in China by adding a new 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine option. Per AutoHome, it is going to be considerably cheaper than the previously available 2.0L version.
The currently sold Preface 2.0T sends 190 PS (187 hp / 140 kW) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) torque to the wheels through a seven-speed DCT. The new 1.5T spec is nearly identical in terms of power with 181 PS (179 hp / 133 kW) and 290 Nm (214 lb-ft) at the output end and the same transmission model. Other than that, the Preface lineup remains unchanged, unless you count one new body paint.
While not official, the local media speculate that the Preface 1.5T will originally ship with leather upholstery, engraved trims, a 12.3-inch infotainment system display, a premium audio system and surround-view cameras on board. Cheaper trim levels may follow later.
The premiere has been scheduled for Sunday, June 18.
