Honda presents the 11th-gen Accord

The tenth generation of the Honda Accord was allowed a rather short five-year stay on the market, and the only facelift it had received went largely unnoticed. A new generation is arriving in the USA now – and it once again looks like a mid-life update, albeit a much larger one than before.

For one thing, the entire bodywork was redesigned to lend the sedan a more solid appearance. LED lighting is now standard in all versions including the most basic one, and the car is 71 mm (2.8 in) longer than before despite using the same platform. Wheels can be 17 or 19 inches large.

The interior is largely new, too, but the dashboard will look familiar if you have seen the latest Civic and Pilot. The digital dashboard defaults to 10.2 inches of diagonal size, while the head unit can be 7 or 12.3 inches large. The top trim level introduces a heads-up display. Honda claims it is now using more premium quality materials for the trim all around.

The money-saving engine option is a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-pot rated at 195 PS (192 hp / 143 kW) and 260 Nm (192 lb-ft) of torque. Alternatively, you can go for a dual-motor hybrid using a gasoline engine as a power generator. This spec produces a superior 207 PS (204 hp / 152 kW) along with 335 Nm (247 lb-ft) of torque.
