Jetour unveils the Shanhai L7 Plus just ahead of launch

Chery sub-brand Jetour has released photos and most technical details concerning the Shanhai L7 Plus SUV slated for late August launch. It’s based on a Shanghai show concept (see video) and allegedly offers up to 1,500 kilometers (932 miles) of range.

Coming in at 4,810 mm (187.9 in) long, 1,930 mm (75.4 in) wide and 1,705 mm (66.6 in) tall with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm (110.2 in), it’s bigger than the Shanhai L7 model already on sale in China. It also sports a completely new front fascia that vaguely resembles Kia EVs, flatter sides and new lighting all around.

The powertrain consists of a 1.5-liter engine, an electric motor and a lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery pack with 32.7 kWh of nominal capacity. The output to the wheels peaks at 360 PS (355 hp / 265 kW) and 530 Nm (391 lb-ft) of torque. Once fully charged, the battery yields up to 220 km (136 miles) of all-electric range, but fire up the engine and you will get up to 1,500 Chinese kilometers, the automaker claims.

Aside from a distinct exterior design, the car boasts its own interior with a completely redesigned dashboard and transmission tunnel not seen in any Jetour from before. It also benefits form the company’s newest infotainment system and ergonomic seats. The 15.6-inch large head unit can swivel 10 degrees left or right, and a single push of a button completely folds down the seats, creating a level bed. Jetour has yet to announce the available configurations, but we expect it to go on sale in China with five and seven seats to choose between.
