Next-gen Lexus GX shows its boxy self at last

Lexus has shared a couple of images of the next-generation GX SUV, which has been in production for 14 long years with regular updates. By the look of it, the new GX will remain just as much of an off-roader while taking advantage of a more up-to-date exterior.

It is still unknown when the unveiling may take place. The first pic reveals a headlight with a bit of the hood cover and a wheel arch. The headlight unit has stricter outlines than before, the radiator grille is darkened, and the hood cover boasts a sculped and angular look. The fenders appear flared.

The second pic simply shows the Lexus badge on the tailgate below the window. The door is smeared with mud in a clear hint that the GX shall stay true to its off-roader DNA.

The rest of the images and the video in the gallery here show the current-gen GX for reference. In terms of tech, we expect the newcomer to be based on the TNGA-F unitized platform just like the latest Toyota Land Cruiser, although it will probably be smaller than that SUV. Later on, the GX may provide the basis for another Land Cruiser Prado.
