Shane Chen, credited with the invention of the concept of a self-balancing hoverboard, has unveiled his next big project – a two-wheel car. Named Shane after its creator, it could be more power-efficient, maneuverable and safer than the four-wheel cars of today.
The passenger pod is suspended between two large wheels. The Shane looks rather compact at a glance, but it actually seats five people. The illusion is created by the wheels, which actually measure 60 inches (1,536 mm) in diameter. The inventor believes that such wheels deliver extra riding comfort along with low rolling resistance.
Regenerative shocks move the passenger pod along two axles relative to the wheels – horizontal and vertical, resulting in a smooth ride even on highly uneven terrain. Like its hoverboard predecessors, the two-wheeler has no steering mechanism in the traditional sense.
