2021 Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W206) hits the road and the Internets

Someone has discovered this pre-production prototype of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W206) just hanging around in a traffic jam. The eye-watering test mule wrap does a decent job concealing fine detail, but some conclusions can be made.

For one, the next-gen C-Class will have a slightly tweaked body proportions. Its wheelbase will become longer and the trunk shorter. For another, the overall silhouette appears sportier than before. That notwithstanding, the dimensions of the car mostly stay the same.

The technical specs remain a mystery so far. One popular theory says the new C-Class will keep its current MRA architecture with some minor modifications, while another insists that it will upgrade to the completely new MRA2. Which one you tend to prefer is up to you.

What is positive is that there will be a hybrid version and an AMG version destined to challenge the market success of the next BMW M3.

Sales of the 2021 C-Class will begin in the next year.
