Cupra Formentor confirmed for Geneva reveal

Cupra, a Seat-owned Spanish premium car brand, will bring its all-new Formentor SUV to the International Motor Show in Geneva, Switzerland starting on March 3, 2020.

The car, which was introduced nearly a year ago as a concept (see video), will hit the showrooms in the second half of 2020. Judging by the spy photos, it will likely retain the same overall design in production.

The technical specifications are unknown at this time. Chances are good that the Formentor will ship with the hybrid drivetrain of the Cupra Leon. This means a 1.4-liter turbo with 150 hp (112 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) assisted by a single electric motor with 115 hp (85 kW) built into the pre-selective transmission.

It remains to be seen whether the Formentor gets any non-electrified powertrains. If it does, then these will likely be identical to those of the Leon (2.0-liter I4 available in three boost levels).
