Kia teases a handful of new EVs

A few days earlier, Hyundai announced electric SUVs based on the same standard design coming to Hyundai, Genesis and Kia dealerships soon. Today, Kia posted the first teaser of its battery soft-roader.

The South Korean marque has electric variants of the Niro and Soul on offer, but the newly announced EV will not be available with internal combustion engine at all. Furthermore, it will offer over 500 kilometers (310 miles) of range on a charge. It will come based on the E-GMP platform, which it will share with the Hyundai Ioniq 5.

The still-unnamed model will debut in several months’ time and be the first to wear the company’s new badge (see the last photo in our gallery here).

Seven more E-GMP-based Kia vehicles are scheduled to arrive within the next six years, including light passenger cars, vans and crossover SUVs. The marque claims it will prioritize electrification above all else to win 6.6% of the global EV market by 2025 and sell over half a million such cars by 2026.

On a related note, Kia Motors is now named simply Kia. The company’s new motto, “Movement that inspires”, hints that we should be looking forward to mobility-related accessories and services.
