Meet Wey Mocha, a new part-electric SUV flagship

Following up on its announcement of three new cars with coffee-themed named, Chinese carmaker Wey has unveiled the first of them, named Mocha Hybrid.

Like its two siblings, the crossover SUV utilizes Wey Tank chassis and reminds of the VV7 model (see video) with some inspiration taken from the Wey-S and Wey-X concepts. The gas-powered car is 4,668 mm long, 1,890 mm wide and 1,730 mm tall with 2,745 mm between the axles. The Mocha Hybrid is considerably larger at 4875×1960×1690 with 2,915 mm of wheelbase.

A 2.0-liter gasoline turbo-four mill under the hood churns out 214 PS (211 hp / 157 kW) in conjunction with a nine-speed DCT box. Electric motor specs remain unannounced, but Wey claims it improves fuel efficiency from 6.7 to just 1.4 liters of gasoline consumed per 100 kilometers pf driving (up from 35 to 168 miles per U.S. gallon). A Qualcomm 8155 chipset, a LiDAR and a 5G modem grant it Level 3 self-driving capability.

Chinese media report that the Wey Mocha will primarily need to compete against the likes of the Changan Uni-K, Exeed TXL, and Hongqi HS5.
