Hyundai reveals Creta Grand seven-seater for Mexico; you may know it as the Alcazar

Hyundai has opened pre-order books for a three-row, seven-seat, stretched modification of its Creta crossover, named the Creta Grand. The new model will be available in Mexico starting from 455,000 peso, and is a close relative of the Alcazar CUV for India.

Like its Indian counterpart, the Creta Grand is 200 mm (8 inches) longer than the standard model with 150 mm (6 inches) of extra wheelbase. This means it now has 2,760 mm (107.8 inches) between the axles. Despite the larger dimensions, the trunk is actually much smaller at just 180 liters (6.36 cubic feet). Folding the third row down nets you a total of 561 liters (19.81 cubic feet) of trunk space.

The Alcazar for India is additionally available in a six-seat premium version with two separate seats in the second row, making it a unique offer in the “crossover SUV” category of that market. The Creta Grand has no such option.

Customers in Mexico will also not be getting the 1.5-liter turbo diesel engine rated at 115 PS (113 hp / 85 kW). In their country, a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine mated to a six-speed A/T for 157 PS (155 hp / 115 kW) will be the only option.

The abovementioned price of 455,000 Mexican peso gets you the base trim level with LED lights, 18-inch wheels, a reversing camera, and a 10.25-inch infotainment system with a touchscreen and Android Auto / Apple CarPlay support. The top spec starts from 498,000 peso and adds a 10.25-inch digital dashboard, a panoramic sunroof, and leather upholstery.
