Volvo EX30 bows in Europe

Volvo has officially introduced the smallest crossover in its portfolio so far – the all-electric EX30. It will be exported from China and is expected to go on sale in Europe in late 2023 starting at €36,000.

The car is based on Geely’s SEA architecture. The wheelbase amounts to 2,650 mm (103.5 inches) and the whole car is only 4,233 mm (165.3 inches) long. The body sports an original design that nonetheless stays true to the Volvo philosophy.

The interior is minimalistic with only one 12.3-inch display and no options for others – not even a HUD. The doors lack buttons – you will have to look for window controls on the middle armrest instead.

Buyers will be able to choose from three powertrain versions. The standard single-motor one makes 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW) and 343 Nm (253 lb-ft) of torque. It comes with a 49-kWh traction battery rated for 344 km (213 miles) of range. Opting for a variant called Extended Range increases battery size to 64 kWh and the range to 480 km (298 miles).

Crowning the lineup is a dual-motor version with 428 PS (422 hp / 315 kW) and 543 Nm (400 lb-ft) of torque at its disposal. This one sprints from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.6 seconds and covers 460 km (285 miles) on a full charge.
