New BMW M5 spotted on the Nürburgring

BMW introduced the next-gen 5-Series in late May (see video), but the M version was still in development at the time. It has now been spotted on the North Loop wearing camo that nonetheless reveals much about the car.

Starting with the front end, you can see the outlines of the front grille and the bumper with its aggressively styled lower apron. The gaping air intakes are supposed to improve the cooling of the hybrid powertrain and the brakes.

The lights are mostly concealed, but you can still see that the headlights overlap with the wheel arches and the taillights sport a modern slim design. Four tailpipes stick from under the rear diffuser.

All powertrain details remain secret, but rumor has it the new BMW M5 will utilize the same hybrid setup as the BMW XM, just with toned-down output.
