We have long observed Pagani testing its new hypercar prototype provisionally called the C10, and it has now finally reached production, although under a different name: Utopia.
The manufacturer says the name pays homage to Thomas More’s 1516 book ‘Utopia’ and should evoke associations with unattainable perfection and idyllic bliss. From the more mundane point of view, the vehicle is mid-engined and powered by a six-liter Mercedes-Benz V12 rated at 864 PS (852 hp / 635 kW) and 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft) of torque. The first examples will all come equipped with a seven-speed automatic transmission, but manual is scheduled to arrive later.
The exterior is executed in the traditional Pagani fashion, with the cabin pod pushed to the front, the side mirrors boasting unique housings, and the exhaust system culminating in quad finishers. In other words, anyone familiar with the Pagani brand will have no trouble telling what cat this is.
As for the interior, it is trimmed by hand and rich in classic analog tech. The monocoque construction uses composite materials, enabling the whole to weigh as little as 1,280 kilograms (2,822 pounds).
Prices start from €2,150,000, but the first production batch of 99 units has already been swept off the metaphorical shelves, so those interested will have to wait for the next one and order early.
