This Pontiac Firebird Trans Am has 15 miles (24 km) on the counter to show for being 45 years old, and it will be crossing the auction block in a few days.
Pontiac released this ‘Y82’ edition of the car to celebrate the marque’s anniversary in the distant year 1976 (see video). All specials came finished in black with golden décor outside and inside, new wheels and removable glass panels in the roof.
The trim specification included, among other things, such expensive exotics as AC and cruise control. The background of this particular example is not revealed in full, but it is obvious that its owner made every effort to keep it pristine. This is evidenced by the protective wrap around the sills and the pedals, as well as a squeaky-clean undercarriage and engine bay.
Powering the classic is a 6.6-liter V8 mated to a three-speed A/T for 183 PS (180 hp / 135 kW). The model also had a manual version, as well as a more powerful spec rated at 203 PS (201 hp / 150 kW), but good luck finding any of those in top-notch condition.
