Amazon & Rivian unveil Vivian, an all-electric van concept

Amazon has shared a video depicting a conceptual electric van called the Vivian. The car has been co-designed with automaker Rivian within the framework of the Amazon Climate Pledge Program, which envisions a full switch away from the use of hydrocarbon fuels.

The corporation currently has several hundred electric vehicles in its fleet. Amazon is planning to expand their number to 10,000 in couple of years and ultimately to around 100,000 in a decade. This corresponds to the number of cars Rivian pledges to produce according to the cooperation agreement, although Amazon still plans to order EVs from other vendors as well. The startup company has already received 700 million U.S. dollars out of the four billion USD stipulated in the contract.

No technical details are available on the cars, but the sales network claims that safety was its first and foremost concern. To this end, every car comes with a reinforced cabin design and a plethora of driving aids. Amazon Alexa is supported, and there is an SAE Level 3 self-driving system on board.
