Roewe ushers in a wallet-friendly sedan with Rolls-Royce looks

Jozef Kabaň, an ex-designer of Skoda and Rolls-Royce, was hired by SAIC Group’s Roewe brand to design the exterior of a cheap Chinese sedan called the M7 DMH. It is now available for ordering from 97,800 Yuan ($13,700).

Thanks to Kabaň, the car sports a smooth and dynamic appearance without any overly sharp outlines. It has a large front grille with vertical bars and bumpers with U-shaped inserts. It’s a fairly large vehicle at 4,940 mm (193 inches) long, 1,890 mm (73.8 in) wide and 1,510 mm (59 in) tall with 2,820 mm (110.2 in) between the axles, 18-inch wheels and 527 liters (18.6 cubic feet) of trunk space.

Powering the affordable Rolls-Royce wannabe is a 1.5-liter engine assisted by a single electric motor. The former makes 112 PS (110 hp / 82 kW) and 135 Nm (100 lb-ft) of torque, while the latter adds 186 PS (183 hp / 137 kW) and 330 Nm (243 lbf-t) of its own.

Equipped like this, the hybrid hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.9 seconds and maxes out at 185 km/h (115 mph). A 19.7-kWh battery pack gives it 160 km (99 miles) of fully electric range, but pour a full tank and you’ll get 2,050 km (1,273 miles), Roewe claims.

Trim options include an infotainment system based on two displays 10.25 and 15.6 inches large with AI features.
