Skoda Epiq EV inches closer to production

Simultaneously with revealing the Volkswagen ID. Cross at a recent IAA Munich press conference, VW Group introduced its Skoda twin – the Skoda Epiq. You may remember its original debut in the spring of 2024, but it’s apparently still not ready for production 18 months later.

Based on the photos alone, the exterior hasn’t changed much. The SUV still wears Skoda’s signature “Tech-Deck Face” complete with an integrated camera and a radar, and T-shaped DRLs. The taillights echo the same shape, and the lower bumpers sport unusual vertical slats. Skoda points out a new exterior color called Cashmere and new wheels, but that’s about it.

Back in 2024, the automaker promised us “over 400 kilometers” of range per charge (that’s 248 miles). It has now bumped up that figure to 425 km (264 miles). That’s only 5 km (3 miles) above the ID. Cross, though. On the other hand, the trunk size has shrunk from the originally promised 490 to 475 liters (16.77 cubic feet).

Skoda says it will be ready to launch the Epiq into production in mid-2026 – same as the VW ID. Cross. Both will be made at the Volkswagen Navarra factory in Spain. The previously mentioned starting price of €25,000 was no longer mentioned, but Skoda assured us that the Epiq would cost about the same as the gas-powered Kamiq “in some regions”. On its domestic market of Czechia, the Kamiq starts from 494,900 Krona, which converts into €20,300.
