VinFast adds an electric pickup truck to its lineup

Vietnamese automaker VinFast intends to take the U.S. market by storm, and has come to this year’s Consumer Electronics Show with a battery truck concept named Wild. Its release date is still unknown, but company representatives have confirmed that VinFast is paying a great deal of attention to this rapidly developing segment of the market.

The pickup has the company’s signature front end design, but the representatives at the show claimed they ‘went for something different’ this time around, drawing inspiration from a wind-blown superhero cape. We’ll leave it to you to decide how that checks out.

The Wild Concept is 5.3 meters (207 inches) long and 2 meters (78 inches) wide with a 1.5-meter (58.6-inch) deep bed. Remarkably, the rear cab wall and the rear seats can be folded down to enable transporting items up to 2.5 meters (97.7 inches) long. The rear pillars are absent, and the rear doors are back-hinged.

No advanced technical specifications have been revealed yet. It looks like VinFast wants to gather feedback from potential customers before committing to this design.

In related news, VinFast announced the coming of another EV to the United States – the VM 3. It is a compact-sized, boxy three-door crossover with up to 200 km (124 miles) of range on full charge. It is already available on the company’s domestic market.
