The Volkswagen Lavida XR is set to go on sale this summer and eventually phase out both the old generation and the VW Santana (see video). That said, the third-gen Lavida will remain on sale as an upmarket option. All prices are pending.
The XR for China is basically identical to its counterparts in Brazil and India except for minor details. These include a new radiator grille and different 16-inch wheels.
Since the third-gen Lavida remains available, the new XR version differentiates itself through its affordable status. Although marketed as a new car, it looks like a new base trim level of the Lavida with its basic seats, cheap trim, a simple AC (no climate control available) and a solid bench seat with a back that only knows two positions – raised upright and folded completely down.
Power for the Lavida XR spec comes from a 1.5-liter non-turbo engine producing 110 PS (108 hp / 81 kW) and 141 Nm (104 lb-ft) of torque, with no other options on the list.
