Jetour has started selling the second generation of the X70 SUV on its domestic market. It is called the X70L and looks similar to the part-electric Shanhai L7 Plus, but only runs on petrol. There are two engines to choose from, and prices range from 115,900 to 149,900 CNY.
The new Jetour X70L is 4,810 mm long, 1,930 mm wide and 1,705 mm tall with 2,820 mm between the axles. It looks boxier but at the same time more restrained than its predecessor with Kia-like headlights, a distinct front bumper and a full-size radiator grille where the Shanhai L7 Plus has a solid trim panel.
In its most affordable version, the X70L comes equipped with a 1.5-liter engine capable of 184 PS (181 hp / 135 kW) and 290 Nm (214 lb-ft) of torque. It links to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and can attain a top speed of 180 km/h (112 mph). The fuel economy averages out at 7.41 liters per 100 km (31.7 US-MPG).
The two top trims utilize a superior 2,0-liter engine with 254 PS (250 hp / 186 kW) and 390 Nm (288 lb-ft) of torque and an eight-speed automatic transmission. They can accelerate to 190 km/h (118 mph) and consume 7.8 liters of gas per 100 km (30.1 US-MPG), Jetour claims quoting its own measurements.
The cheapest version comes with five seats, while the other two offer a choice between five and seven. There are five available exterior finishes and two interior trims. The infotainment display measures 15.6 inches from corner to corner and can swivel by 10 degrees left and right.
The technically related Jetour Shanhai L7 Plus has pretty much the same exterior and cabin, but benefits from a plug-in hybrid powertrain. It comprises a 156-PS (154-hp / 115-kW) engine and a 204-PS (201-hp / 150-kW) electric motor and can cover up to 220 km (136 miles) per charge, depending on the chosen battery pack.
