AC Cars completes its first Cobra Series 1 Electric

The legendary V8-powered AC Cobra roadster has been around for nearly six decades now, and now, an all-electric version of it is finally coming to the market.

AC Cars is a niche car builder, so it will only produce 58 units with assistance from Falcon Electric, a tech firm based in Derby and specializing in electrification. As you may see, the battery roadster retains its classical exterior and cabin while losing the tailpipes and the clutch pedal. Note also the extra gauges on the dashboard.

The exterior bodywork is slim and made of a lightweight composite material. There is a medium-sized air intake at the front inspired by earlier Cobra and Ace models of the 1960s.

The car can produce up to 313 PS (309 hp / 230 kW), but is limited to 250 Nm (183 lb-ft) for practical purposes. It weighs in at 1,050 kg (2,315 lbs) and hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in four seconds flat. A 55-kWh battery grants it around 240 kilometers (150 miles) of range. The steering, the suspension and the brakes are all upgraded compared to the ICE version.
