AC Schnitzer overhauls the i5 before BMW can

While the 2023 BMW i5 saloon is patiently waiting for an official mid-generational refresh, the tuner team over at AC Schnitzer decided to take matters into its own hands. Their latest tuning package for the EV doesn’t just modify its looks, but also improves handling with a few well-appointed suspension mods.

The aero package is traditionally modest and consists of a front splitter, side skirts and a couple of rear spoilers. The same kit with new spoilers redesigned to fit a tailgate is available for the i5 Touring as well.

Should these styling tweaks be too tame for you, the German tuner suggests replacing the stock wheels with custom alloys sized from 19 to 21 inches in diameter. The car pictured here rides on 21-inch AC3 FlowForming rims sporting a dual-five-spoke pattern with red brake calipers for contrast, but other options are available, too. The suspension sits 20–25mm (0.8–1”) lower than standard, and the track is 20 mm (0.8”) wider at both ends for added stability in corners.

The electric powertrain stays intact. Two e-motors continue sending 600 PS (592 hp / 441 kW) and 820 Nm (605 lb-ft) of torque to the wheels.

All European prices are already available. The splitter will set you back  €1,290, the side skirts will add €840 and the two spoilers will add up to another €1,220. Lowering springs can be had from €581, and spacers cost €486 for a full set. Depending on your choices, wheels may be the most expensive part of the upgrade (up to €5,390/set).
