Next-gen Acura MDX spied during tests

Test mule hunters have come home with another good haul: a next-generation sample of the Acura MDX.

Enthusiasts found images allegedly showing the next-gen MDX crossover and TLX sedan in the infotainment system of the Acura RDX slightly over a year ago. Back then, no one could confirm that the design sketches were accurate or even official; it is confirmed now.

The tester on the today’s spy pics sports the exact same body shape, radiator grille, kit and lighting as on the images leaked in 2019. The car also has a seven-seat interior, but no shots have been made of it so far.

The engine range would include at least a couple of gasoline engines. One is the 2.0-liter turbo-four mill that makes 276 hp (206 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) on the current-gen TLX. The other one is a three-liter turbocharged V6 of the TLX Type S. Both will work with ten-speed automatic transmission and come front-wheel driven, although SH-AWD will be available as a paid option.

It is still hard to predict the premiere timeframe, but the fourth-gen Acura MDX might debut as early as this fall. Sales in China and the United States would begin in 2021, while availability in other countries is not guaranteed at all.
