MagnaFlow, a name closely associated with performance exhaust products for all kinds of vehicles, has launched an exhaust upgrade for the Toyota 4Runner said to actually improve its overlanding performance.
The new parts are already available for ordering in the United States for $1,064. It’s unclear how much clearance and departure angle it adds, and we suppose the precise gains will be determined by your version of the SUV in any case. However, we can attest to it having a much more robust engine soundtrack. The vendor also claims that the stainless steel alloy 409 used in the system develops a patina crust on the surface to prevent further corrosion. Last but not least, reduced exhaust gas pressure means more power and potentially better fuel economy for the owner – although, once again, these claims aren’t supported by any proven figures.
In its stock form, the 4Runner uses a 2.4-liter engine boosted to 282 PS (278 hp / 207 kW) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque. Installing this MagnaFlow exhaust on it can be done at home using a dedicated hanger tool and a 13mm hexagonal socket.
