Seres has unveiled its upcoming SUV EV, the Aito M5e, on official photos. The car utilizes a drivetrain designed by Chinese IT giant Huawei.
Buyers will be able to choose between one electric motor rated at 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW) or two churning out 496 PS (489 hp / 365 kW). The traction battery is of the LiFePO4 type, but its size and characteristics remain unannounced.
The body is 4,785 x 1,930 x 1,620 mm large (L/W/H) with 2,880 mm of wheelbase. Wheels come in 19 and 20 inches.
Huawei handled the development of the on-board electronics and the infotainment system software as well. The interface offers next to zero physical controls, relegating all major functions to the central touchscreen. Inexplicably enough, the wide console between the front seats only has one cup holder in it.
Compared to the Aito M5 Hybrid shown in the attached video, the M5e has a different front bumper lacking the large air intake. This makes sense, because electric motors do not require nearly as much air cooling as ICE engines do. Other than that, the exterior styling is similar or identical to that of the hybrid.
