Aito M7 Electric gets patented with full specs

Aito, a Chinese car sub-brand founded between Huawei and Seres, is getting ready to launch fully electric variants of its M7 SUV. In the meantime, the company has entered all the relevant specs into the country’s patent database, letting us have a good look at them ahead of the official reveal.

Based on these documents, the SUV is 5,080 mm long, 1,999 mm wide and 1,780 mm tall with 3,030 mm between the axles. This is interesting, because while the body is only 60 mm (2.4 inches) longer than that of the Aito M7 serial hybrid, the wheelbase is whole 210 mm (8.2 inches) longer. This modification almost puts the electric M7 on par with the new M8, which has less than 100 mm (4 inches) of length and wheelbase advantage over it.

The interior houses either five or six seats depending on your chosen spec. The car supports Huawei’s latest Qiankun ADS 4 assist package also found in the M8.

Customers will be choosing from two powertrain options for the M7 Electric. The RWD one has 309 PS (305 hp / 227 kW) and the AWD one maxes out at 533 PS (526 hp / 392 kW). Neither can exceed 200 km/h (124 mph).

In turn, the serial-hybrid M7 lineup will be getting a power boost to match the values quoted above for the EV (i.e., 309 PS for the rear-wheel-drive version and 533 PS for the AWD variant). Both will continue to utilize a 1.5-liter, 160-PS (158-hp / 118-kW) engine as a power generator.

The battery specs remain to be revealed. The old lineup makes use of a 40-kWh pack rated at 240 km (149 miles) in all-electric mode.
