1,260 PS and a 2.35-second launch: Tuned Audi RS 7 sets new records

The Audi RS 7 Sportback (C8) is nominally not a supercar, but its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 assisted by an electric starter is capable of some wild performance. Power Division took advantage of the fact to build what the company claims to be the fastest RS 7 in history.

The list of modifications is extensive and mentions a carbon-fiber air intake system, a more capable intercooler, forged pistons and connecting rods, and a couple of ball bearing turbos. The fuel system has been revamped as well and the exhaust manifold has been replaced along with the downpipes and the catalytic converters.

To squeeze every last bit of performance out of the car at launch, PD also gave it a water/methanol system and a thorough overhaul of the ECU/TCU settings. In the end, the RS 7 slammed the crank with 1,260 PS (1,243 hp / 927 kW) and 1,344 Nm (991 lb-ft) of torque.

The actual performance is every bit as impressive as these numbers suggest. The car reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) from standstill in 2.35 seconds and doubles that acceleration just 3.87 seconds later, which PD claims is an absolute record for the RS 7 model.

The Stage 4 tuning kit is already available. There is no mention of the price, but we wouldn’t be surprised to learn that it costs about as much as the car itself, if not more.
