Chinese premium vehicle manufacturer Avatr has posted some images of its first-ever wagon, or rather shooting brake, called the 06T. Sharing the platform with the sedan-shaped Avatr 06, it cuts a sporty profile and features Huawei’s latest self-driving hardware.
Like the donor, the 06T sports stacked LED daytime running lights, emphasized wheel arches housing 20-inch five-spoke wheels, and video cameras acting as rearview mirrors. Unlike the 06, it has a single brake light strip at the rear end and more traditional-looking door handles. As you may have heard, China banned concealed handles as unsafe from 2027 onwards.
Rumor has it the 06T will get the same interior layout as the 06. This implies a 15.6-inch infotainment display, a large passenger-side screen and a strongly squared steering wheel. Huawei will supply the software and some of the hardware, and options will allegedly include massaged seats and a 25-speaker audio system.
The premiere date remains unannounced, but we expect Avatr’s first family car to debut either before or at the Auto China show in late April. Chances are good that it will utilize the sedan’s hybrid powertrain with 314 PS (310 hp / 231 kW) coming from a 1.5-liter turbo engine and a motor.
The Avatr 06 also has two all-electric powertrain variants – a RWD one with 338 PS (333 hp / 248 kW) and an AWD one with 598 PS (590 hp / 440 kW). Both come bundled with a battery pack rated at 650 kilometers (404 miles) per charge – the same or similar can be expected from the wagon.
