The Avatr 12 liftback co-produced between Changan, Huawei and CATL has now officially gone on sale in China, CarNewsChina reports. The buyers can choose from three versions priced from 300,800 to 400,800 Yuan (approx. $41,000–54,800 USD). Changan has reported already receiving more than 7,000 pre-orders.
The car debuted in early September and was the marque’s second production vehicle after the Avatr 11 SUV. The two are close from the stylistic viewpoint, but the new Avatr 12 comes close to the Porsche Panamera in terms of size. It is 5,020 mm long and has 3,020 mm between the axles.
The equipment list includes adaptive shocks and air cushions enabling ride height adjustment within the range of 45 mm (1.8 inches). A driving assist package is also available with as many as three LiDARs. Inside, the main thing that catches the eye is an ultrawide display sized 35.4 inches corner-to-corner installed in front of the lower windshield rim. A normal infotainment touchscreen is also present.
The two lesser versions of the Avatr 12 use a single electric motor rated at 313 PS (309 hp / 230 kW) and 370 Nm (273 lb-ft) of torque. the flagship version gets two motors for 578 PS (570 hp / 425 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque combined. The battery size is fixed in any case and amounts to 94.5 kilowatt-hours. The single-motor versions get up to 700 km (435 miles) of range per charge, while the dual-motor spec gets 650 km (404 miles).
