Judging by the spy photos posted on CarBuzz, the Bavarian automaker decided to play it safe and strip the facelifted 5-Series Touring of any controversial Neue Klasse styling.
Instead of that, the car seen here seems to have a more traditional-looking grille that also strikes us as fairly compact compared to some of the automaker’s previous designs. The headlights appear to have new DRLs, and the air intake in the middle has been revised as well. The rear end stays stock – at least, insofar as can be judged with the camo wrap still on.
Considering how small these updates are, we suppose the new BMW 5-Series Touring will prioritize interior features over looks. For one thing, it may end up with the company’s latest infotainment system and heads-up display from the iX3. The engine lineup may stay the same, but some range improvements for the electrified versions are quite possible.
BMW’s next product announcement is scheduled for this Wednesday, but we still don’t know what it is going to be about.
