Chinese EV maker BYD has updated its Denza D9 minivan originally released in 2022. Billed as the second generation, the facelift brings along a traction battery capable of charging in under 10 minutes.
The Blade-series battery pack comes equipped with an ultra-fast charging controller known as Flash Charging. Once discharged to 10%, the whole pack can reach 70% in five minutes of charging and 97% in nine.
The vendor claims that the charging speeds barely go down even in sub-zero temperatures. Range-wise, the new D9 offers 800 kilometers (497 miles) of range per the local standard – a significant improvement over the original’s 620 km (385 miles).
On top of this, the new D9 benefits from upgraded motors. The FWD version now outputs 462 PS (456 hp / 340 kW) to the front wheels, and the AWD version sends 557 PS (549 hp / 410 kW) to both ends. A new radiator grille pattern is just about the only visual modification, and the interior reportedly stays unchanged, too.
The Denza D9 hybrid has also been updated, albeit slightly. Its power and torque remain the same, while the battery gets double the range at 400 km (248 miles) in all-electric mode.
Prices in China start from 389,800 Yuan ($56,600) and reach 489,800 Yuan ($71,125) in the top spec. Europe is slated to receive the new D9 at a later date.
