Changan has obtained the necessary certificates in China to start producing the Qiyuan E07, a crossover truck it first previewed as the CD701 Concept last fall (see video).
Based on the photos posted on AutoHome, the production vehicle will look nearly the same as its prototype. Most importantly, it looks like it can still transform from SUV to pickup and vice versa.
The original concept looked like a coupe-SUV with a sliding glass pane in the back. Lifting the glass revealed a truck-like cargo bed. As for the tailgate, it drops down like on any normal pickup.
You can also discern a see-through panel at the rear, an integrated spoiler and the company’s signature taillights interrupted by short horizontal inserts at the sides. The one thing that the patent application fails to mention is whether the Qiyuan E07 retains all its advertised transformer features.
At 5,045 x 1,996 x 1,640 mm large with 3,120 mm of wheelbase, the EV is fairly large. It rides on wheels sized up to 21 inches in diameter and comes in two main flavors. The single-motor version has 343 PS (338 hp / 252 kW) and the dual-motor/AWD variant delivers 598 PS (590 hp / 440 kW). The top speed amounts to 210 km/h (130 mph). All other technical specifications are pending.
