Chery has been testing Tiggo 5L, a more affordable alternative to the large Tiggo 8 (see video). The crossover has now been spotted on the streets and photographed.
Surprises are few on the exterior side of things. Like its big cousin, the 5L has stacked headlights, a single taillight stripe in the back and the same radiator grille (although the radial pattern is new). Slanted c-pillars, a roof fin and a spoiler lend it a rather sporty, coupe-like vibe.
Things take a more interesting turn in the cabin. The center console is dominated by a large vertical touchscreen with some actual physical buttons below. An induction charger is present, and the three-spoke steering wheel is new, too. What interests us the most, though, is how the door handles seem to be integrated with audio speakers.
Unofficial reports claim that the Chery Tiggo 5L will be offered with a non-electrified petrol engine and as a 1.5-liter plug-in hybrid. All prices remain to be announced, but the fifth-generation Tiggo 8 went on sale around a month ago priced from 93,000 Yuan ($13,135).
