Сhery comes back to Dakar under a new name

The Chinese automaker will be participating in the Dakar Rally via its Ebro sub-brand. Laia Sanz, from Spain, will be piloting a custom T1+ class off-roader.

The Ebro brand sells Chery’s rebadged Tiggo 4 Pro, Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro Max models in Europe. It’s unknown whether the rally car will inherit any of their technology. The Dakar Rally 2026 follows a new route and spans around 8,000 kilometers (5,000 miles).

Chery was the first Chinese automaker to join the Dakar race a decade and a half ago. It sent a Chery Rely X5 to the race accompanied by a Rely H5 for support. This time around, the company will be competing against Ford, Mini, Renault, Toyota and other serious rivals.
