2025 Chevrolet Cobalt going into production in Uzbekistan

UzAuto Motors will handle the production of the facelifted Chevrolet Cobalt in Uzbekistan, reports the local newspaper Autostrada. The government of the country and the local Chevrolet branch intend to invest 67.4 million USD in upgrading the industrial complex over the next two years. Full-scale production is set to begin in 2026.

The refreshed sedan will fill in the gap left by the Chevrolet Lacetti, which the company plans to discontinue very soon. The Cobalt is a highly demanded vehicle in Uzbekistan and some other Asian countries, including the adjacent Kazakhstan where it sold nearly 30,500 units in 2023.

The company expects to produce up to 150,000 Cobalt units evert year while also gradually ramping up the production of its other models – the Onix sedan and the Tracker SUV. Upgrading the assembly lines for these production volumes will cost another 60 million USD, the Chevrolet investment plan for the region states.

The current Cobalt generation received its first facelift a few years ago. It ended up with new bumpers and lights, as well as a mildly revised interior with better trim materials and multimedia features. The current model ships in Uzbekistan with a 1.5-liter engine rated at 105 PS (104 hp / 77 kW) and either manual or automatic transmission. Prices start from 124,264,000 Uzbekistani Som.
