Citroen has revealed the restyled Berlingo compact van lineup.
The update made the vehicle look more in line with the French automaker’s current design language. There is a new front bumper, a radiator grille with an updated badge and new headlights with signature C-shaped DRLs. Those willing to add a little ruggedness to their van may opt for a package called XTR, which puts skid plates under the bumpers and red accents all around the body.
The interior layout stays the same overall, but the infotainment system has received a major update. The base trim level still comes with analog gauges, but paying for a premium spec gets you a pair of new 10-inch displays instead. Citroen also promises particularly cozy Advanced Comfort seats with improved padding and lateral support.
Like before, the buyers can choose from two length options – 4.4 and 4.75 meters (14.44 and 15.58 feet). The latter option adds a third passenger seat row. You can fold down all seats except the driver’s and transport items up to 2.7 meters (8.86 feet) long in the standard version. The long-wheelbase version enables carrying stuff up to 3.05 m (10 ft.) long.
Likewise, the trunk volume can be expanded to a maximum of 4,000 liters (141.26 cubic feet). Another 186 l (6.57 cu. ft.) of space can be found across the assorted luggage compartments in the cabin.
In Europe, the compact van will ship exclusively as an all-electric vehicle called e-Berlingo. It will use a 136-PS (134-hp / 100-kW) motor and a 50-kWh battery. Thanks to various software upgrades and an added heat pump, a full charge now gets you 20% farther than before the facelift – up to 320 km (199 miles).
The other markets will receive the normal Berlingo lineup, including BlueHD diesel versions rated between 90 and 130 PS (88–128 hp; 67–96 kW) and PureTech petrol variants with either 110 or 130 PS (108 or 128 hp; 81 or 96 kW).
