ABT Sportsline is a tuner name most commonly seen next to Audi cars, but Spanish marques Seat and Cupra often use the same platforms and oily bits, so the company’s latest project is this power-boosted Cupra Formentor.
ABT worked with a special edition called VZ5, of which there will only be 7,000 production units. The car comes equipped with a 2.5-liter Audi five-pot rated at 390 PS (385 hp / 287 kW) and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque. A seven-speed DCT sends the momentum to all four wheels.
The introduction of a special tuning module called the ABT Power S let the SUV improve its output to 450 PS (444 hp / 331 kW) and 530 Nm (391 lb-ft) of torque. As a result, it now makes the standard sprint in 3.9 seconds, one-third of a second faster than stock. The top speed also lies 20 km/h higher than before at 270 km/h (168 mph).
Those driving the entry-spec Formentor 2.0 with a turbo-four mill under the hood may ask ABT for a similar upgrade and get 370 PS (365 hp / 272 kW).
