Chery Group brand Exeed has taken to Weibo to post photos of a camouflaged mid-size SUV known as the E05. It is being advertised as an international model and may debut as soon as September, claims CarNewsChina citing unofficial sources.
For the first time on record for Exeed, the E05 comes equipped with a Level 2 self-driving system. It is called Horizon SuperDrive (HSD) and comes from Horizon Robotics. It comprises up to 12 radars depending on your chosen spec, as well as a bunch of cameras and an optional LiDAR mounted above the windshield (you can see it in the gallery here). The software runs on a Journey 6P chipset capable of 560 TOPS.
Data from the certification agency suggests that the SUV is 4,780 mm (186.7 inches)l long, 1,890 mm (73.8 inches) wide and 1,725 mm (67.4 inches) tall with 2.8 meters (109.4 inches) between the axles. This makes it 175 mm (6.8 inches) shorter than the latest Exeed Exlantix ET with 200 mm (7.8 inches) less wheelbase.
On the outside, the car mostly resembles the gas-powered TXL. It uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine rated at 156 PS (154 hp / 115 kW) purely as a power generator for the main electric powertrain. The details remain to be announced. All we know right now is that the SUV consumes 5.8 liters of petrol per 100 kilometers on average (40.5 MPG), can reach 200 km/h (124 mph) at most and has 165 km (102 miles) of CLTC-rated electric range once fully charged. The latter is granted by a 32,659-Wh LFP battery.
The patent sheet mentions 18-, 19- and 20-inch wheel options.
