Volkswagen CC Shooting Brake crosswagon enters production in China

The VW Arteon has a special FAW-Volkswagen spinoff in China called the Volkswagen CC. After the recent update of the Euro-spec Arteon (see video), the CC follows its example – and even gets a new body style with it.

More specifically, while the Arteon received an estate/wagon body option in Europe, the CC debuts in a Shooting Brake (SUV+wagon) guise. You may think it should boast certain off-road capabilities, but this is simply not so. The car boasts a purely decorative body kit made of black plastic, roof railings and chromed tailgate details. As for the adaptive suspension and high road clearance, these have been standard for the China spec all along.

The car comes powered by a two-liter gasoline turbo-four rated at 220 hp (164 kW), mated to a seven-speed DSG. All-wheel drive isn’t and won’t be an option, the manufacturer states.

The Volkswagen CC liftback and its Shooting Brake counterpart should both go on sale in China in the coming fall.
