VW lifts the veil over the new Jetta SUV

Volkswagen Group has established the Jetta sub-brand to specialize in affordable cars. At the upcoming Auto Guangzhou show in China, the company will be unveiling a new SUV called the VS7.

The Jetta VS7 shares the chassis with the latest Skoda Karoq and measures 4,624 mm (15.17 ft.) long, 1,841 mm (6.04 ft.) wide and 1,633 mm (5.36 ft.) tall with 2,730 mm (8.96 ft.) between the axles. Stylistically, it reminds its junior sibling – the VS5 – but with different bumpers and glass dome.

Powering the new VS7 is a 1.4-liter turbocharged V4 engine pumping out 150 hp (112 kW) to the front axle through an Aisin six-speed auto transmission. AWD is not an option.

Sales in China will begin sometime in December.
