The Ferrari 499P prototype racecar donning a livery with number 51 on it has won the gold of this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, marking the Italian automaker’s first victory since 1965. With exactly ten Le Mans wins on its tab, the company made itself a fine present right in time for its 100th birthday.
Ferrari unleashed two racecars on the track under numbers 50 and 51, but number 50 came fifth due to technical issues.
For the past 17 years, Toyota has held the first place at the Le Mans. A crash at the pre-final hour landed it on the second position this time around. Cadillac scored bronze.
