Liberty Walk tackles the legendary Ferrari F40 in its latest tuning effort

Liberty Walk, a JDM tune-up shop widely known for its insane and over-the-top body kits, will be bringing something particularly sacrilegious to the 2023 Tokyo Auto Salon.

The iconic supercar (see video) went into production in Maranello in 1987 and stayed until 1992, enjoying the flagship status all those years. It was considered particularly valuable because it was co-designed by brand founder Enzo Ferrari himself before his final retirement.

Examples in near-stock condition nowadays cost many millions of U.S. dollars, but the Japanese company seems unabashed about its decision to cut and mold its captive F40 into something different.

Included in the body kit are a new hood with a pair of air intakes, an impressively large front splitter, side skirt extensions and a rear diffuser. The wheel arches are grotesquely flared all around, and the rear wing flaunts an aftermarket add-on. Oh, and don’t bother looking for the model’s signature pop-up headlights: the trademark feature is gone for good.

It would appear that the suspension is far from stock, too. The coupe practically scrapes the asphalt with its belly, and the wheels fit snugly in their wells. It remains to be seen whether the ground clearance will be adjustable to any practical level. What little can be seen of the interior reveals LW bucket seats and a roll cage.

The pricing info is not available, but Liberty Walk says it will process more such orders from interested F40 owners.
