Ferrari F40 is coming back as a composite hybrid supercar

Angelelli Automobili has posted a video dedicated to its latest project, titled Effequaranta. The Italian car company plans to produce a modern replica of the legendary Ferrari F40 partly based on genuine Ferrari components and partly built from aftermarket parts. A few dozen vehicles in a variety of trims will ship in August priced from €1.6 million.

The company will utilize a proprietary 3D printing method involving carbon fiber, aluminum and titanium to produce the load-bearing frame. The few shots posted thus far reveal that the car actually resembles the SF90 Stradale. The wheelbase will be the same as the original – 2,650 mm (103.5 inches).

According to Angelelli, it chose to reinterpret certain F40 design traits instead of copying them. Similarities can be found in the rear wing, the front bumper and the air intakes in front of the rear wheels. Air suspension, an active aerodynamic kit and carbon-ceramic brakes are also on the list of features.

The powertrain of the replica will comprise a 4.0-liter V8 and a trio of electric motors. It will churn out 1,050 PS (1,036 hp / 772 kW) in the base version and up to 1,250 PS (1,233 hp / 919 kW) in endurance racecar version. The latter is being designed to be admissible to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Only 10 such racecars will be made and sold from €2.5 million. Each one will sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.1 seconds and max out at 360 km/h (223 mph), the company claims.
