Elderly engine-swapped Ford Maverick shows supercars its tail side

Well, it seems that even the sceptics among us, who dismissed restomodding as a transient fad, have realized by now that restomods are here to stay. Car shops all over the world keep restoring vintage rides– and not just the exotic and expensive ones, at that. Could this mundane 1969 Ford Maverick ever imagine it would wind up with a 1,200-hp engine half a century later?

Greening Auto Company handled this particular “two-door sedan”, giving it a new body with flared fenders and an all-carbon aero kit, a frame for rigidity, a Baer brake system, and fashionable centerlock wheels. The cabin also received a complete overhaul in the modern sports car style, complete with a track-ready roll cage, bucket seats and dashboard.

What really sets this Maverick aside from the crowd is its eight-cylinder engine bolstered to deliver 1,200 horsepower (895 kilowatts). We won’t bore you with the technical details; suffice it to say that the 51-year-old ride hits 326 km/h (202.6 miles per hour) by the end of a half-mile drag strip.
