Mustang Fox Body makes a comeback from the ‘90s with 800 HP

Tuning company Velocity has built what it claims to be the world’s first restomod of a Fox Body Mustang. Working with a third-generation Mustang LX from the 1990s, they turned it into a no-nonsense supercar.

The demo example seen here rides on a Roadster Shop SPEC chassis and wears a Jet Black coat of paint. It boasts a 50mm (2-inch) “power dome” on the hood and sporty splitters running down the sides. The arches are occupied by 18-inch alloy wheels shod in Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires with six-piston Baer calipers seen behind the spokes.

The interior is all-new but looks remarkably period-correct thanks to all the dedicated restomod hardware. This includes Dakota Digital gauges, a Vintage Air climate control system and a Blaupunkt Frankfurt multimedia unit linked with a Focal audio system.

A glimpse under the hood reveals a 5.0-liter Ford Coyote V8 driven by a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger. A 10-speed automatic transmission delivers 811 PS (800 hp / 596 kW) to the rear end, with the tuner claiming that this number is actually measurable at the wheels.

The SEMA show car won’t be for sale anytime soon, but it will be entering Velocity’s Signature Series lineup next year. This means you will probably be able to commission a similar example for the right price. The tuner’s other projects usually start around $200,000.
