Ford Mustang Mk1 makes for a surprisingly solid stretch limo

A limousine based on a first-generation Ford Mustang found a new owner in Australia just a few days ago. It was imported from the United States in the early 2000s and subsequently stretched, engine-swapped and RHD-converted.

Working with a 1966MY ‘Stang as a starting point, an uncredited tuning company kept its front and rear ends intact while inserting a custom-fabricated middle section into the chassis. Judging by the photos, the rear doors were sourced from another classic Mustang and made to fit the build. Large panel gaps and other visible design discrepancies won’t leave anyone asking that it’s an aftermarket project, but the craftsmanship is otherwise pretty solid – no sagging bottom, no uneven roofline, all nice and clean.

In turn, the interior received two bench seats for a total of eight seats available. The steering wheel migrated to the right-hand side, a modern audio system with a subwoofer was installed, and a power-assisted privacy partition was added between the driver’s cockpit and the rest of the passenger space. Two ACs were installed to keep both the driver and the passengers cool at all times.

Last but not least, the outdated Mustang engine made room for a more recent five-liter V8. The listing is light on details, but it does mention a three-speed automatic gearbox, so this pony likely isn’t the fastest of its kind. Power and true mileage remain unknown, as does the final selling price.
