World’s only manual Honda Odyssey crashes SEMA party with 558 PS

A Type R-swapped, stick-shift Honda Odyssey built between Jordan Distributors Inc (JDi) and Bisimoto was one of this year’s biggest SEMA show highlights. It may not look the part, but this family minivan will outrun some sports cars without breaking a sweat.

For starters, the team that worked on the project vacated the engine bay of the stock V6 with its 284 PS (280 hp / 209 kW) and put a Civic Type R engine in its place. It wasn’t much of an upgrade at first, because the Civic mill is only good for 319 PS (315 hp / 235 kW) itself. After receiving a new subframe, an improved fuel system, performance intake and exhaust and a Mitsubishi Stage 2 turbo kit, the output went up to 558 PS (550 hp / 410 kW).

The 10-speed automatic transmission was then dismantled and a six-speed manual was put into its place. Further additions included a shifter on the center console and a third pedal. The brakes and the suspension were overhauled as well for a sportier driving feel, and the engine was introduced to a quick-start button.

Interestingly enough, both tuning companies make it sound like a fairly simple project. Apparently, the Odyssey has plenty of room to spare for aftermarket mods up to and including engine and transmission swaps. This sounds like something Honda could have done at the factory for the stick shift enthusiasts among us, but the 2025 Odyssey Sport goes automatic-only.

On the exterior side of things, the van looks like a true sleeper with only an understated vent in the hood, 19-inch Civic Type R wheels and a Toyo Tires banner behind the windshield to let us know it’s been modified. A look from behind also reveals a trio of large aftermarket exhaust tips, but that’s about it.

Sadly, the project is a one-off with nothing like a production run on the tuners’ schedule. Even so, we suppose other companies might get inspired by this beautifully unconventional Odyssey and jump at the opportunity.
