Inkas clads Land Rover’s strongest Defender in ballistic armor

The Canadian armored vehicle manufacturer has worked its magic on the range-topping Land Rover Defender Octa, shielding it against 7.62-caliber assault rifle fire and simultaneous explosions of two hand grenades.

As you may see for yourself, the SUV was armor-plated in a very discreet fashion, with little to show for being modified than some “Inkas” emblems. As one would expect from a project like this, it didn’t end with armored bodywork – the entire glass dome was replaced, sturdier door hinges and run-flat tires were installed, and the fuel tank ended up in an extra armor case of its own. To ensure that no one would attempt to pry one of the doors open with a crowbar or something, Inkas also took care to reinforce the doorframes and eliminate the gaps.

As usual, the company offers plenty of additional accessories to those who can afford them. These include an air filtering system, a night vision camera suite, an emergency hatch in the roof, assorted strobe lights and sirens, video cameras and a loudspeaker for communicating with the outside world.

The Defender Octa was launched in the summer 2024. It is the most powerful SUV in its lineup with a 4.4-liter V8 delivering 635 PS (626 hp / 467 kW) to the wheels. Despite its considerable bulk, this version of the off-roader can go 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in four seconds flat. It also benefits from certain suspension improvements that we suppose were another reason why the owner picked this variant for the conversion.

A stock Defender Octa starts from $158,300 in the United States.
