iPhone manufacturer’s first electric truck touches down in Taiwan

Taiwan-based manufacturing company Foxconn, which you may know as the leading manufacturer of the Apple iPhone, has unveiled an electric pickup truck dubbed Model V.

No market availability dates have been provided so far. The company itself designed the exterior of the vehicle, equipping it with many typical ‘rugged’ attributes such as a plastic body kit and protective plating. Boomerang-shaped headlights and a textured front grille stub make it look like electric cars made in China.

Any details will have to wait. From what little we know, the Foxconn pickup has 3.2 meters of wheelbase and a bed 1.5 meters long, making it slightly larger than the Toyota Hilux. The company claims it can carry up to 1 metric ton (2,200 pounds) of cargo as far as 420 kilometers (261 miles) without the need for charging mid-route. Power, torque and battery capacity remain to be announced.

As for the interior, it has four digital displays in total, suggesting premium positioning. The rest will be revealed later.
